We want to make you aware of numerous avenues for you to make a world of difference both near and far through acts of service!

Let us share with you several ways you can give your time, energy and resources in the name of Christ in 2009:

May 9th at Camp Otterbein in Logan, Ohio (9:00-3:00). We will be helping to get the camp ready for summer events. The children/youth who attend camp will be appreciative! There will be painting, mulching, scrubbing, moving things around and setting things up. You will be used! You can donate toward the supplies if you like, but lunch is free that day. Please RSVP to the Foothills District office by April 24th. If you would like to spend the night the cost per person is $18 (with a campfire) and $6 for breakfast. Please let us know if you would like that option when you RSVP.

May 9th at Camp Asbury in Rio Grande, Ohio (9:00-3:00). You can come and go as you please or stay the whole day but we will be doing a variety of projects that can fit a variety of skill levels. We need some skilled laborers to work on plumbing, dry wall and flooring as well as cleaning both inside and outside. Please bring your tools and we could even use a pick-up truck in order to move things around. Your involvement will make a difference in the lives of young people who will be attending camp this summer. Lunch will be provided, but please RSVP to the District office by May 1st.

August 8th in Malta, Ohio (Morgan County) (9:00-4:00). We will be partnering with World Vision (Appalachia). The cost is $20 person (lunch included) and you need to RSVP to the Foothills District office by August 1st.  There will be projects for everyone no matter what your skill level might be. We will be helping individuals/families in need in this area.

August 29th will bring Serve Fest in Zanesville (8:00-12:00). We will be partnering with approximately 9 churches in the Zanesville area in order to share the love of Christ in a very practical way. There are a variety of projects being worked on that will allow anyone to serve. Please RSVP to the Foothills District office by August 1st unless you are involved in any of the churches currently participating. If so, then you will reserve your spot with your local church. There will be a celebration service at 7:00 p.m. at the Rolling Plains UMC that evening.

October 24th  is “Make A Difference Day Ohio”.  This is a wonderful opportunity for Christians in local churches to serve their community or area. Please look on the Governor’s Office of Appalachia website at www.development.ohio.gov/Appalachia/Partnerships.htm  and click on the link – “Make A Difference day Ohio”. You will want to click on “find a project in your community here” and then type in your zip code and the distance (in miles) that you are willing to travel. You will see some possible projects to participate in as well as needed contact information.

October 3-10 is our Mexican-American Mission Trip to Casillas, Mexico- The Foothills District is also creating a connection with the Oriental Conference in Mexico and we will be sending a team of people from SE Ohio. The cost is $850 and includes all of your expenses.

Please RSVP to the District office ( $600- initial payment) by June 19th. We will be building a parsonage, providing medical help, doing children’s programming and evangelistic services. We hope you join us in this exciting venture!

We are making a difference together - locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Thanks be to God!
